Ever heard of a water filter causing ph to drop?
Ph is reading 6.8 unfiltered tap water and 4 after filter granted this ph meter isn’t very good and I know at one point I checked
A couple weeks ago and it was reading seven after the filter

This is my go to meter it’s a combo meter

I would only buy Bluelab or Hannainst products…

I prefer meters vs pens but this looks nice also for budget option

Ec yes maybe a bit but you need to figure out the problem vs guessing

I’m using

or

Doesn’t support more than 5 gallon pot

budget option

Many styles out there like this

How are you filtering your water?? Do you have a link?

water at 2 ppm is very unstable because nothing is in it… So yes RO water swings like crazy… but the level of Cal/mag your using should help make it more stable

Don’t take this the wrong way but both your Ec pen and Ph pen isn’t very good…

Ph probes need to stay wet… you need to keep it in storage solution so it doesn’t go bad when not in use

Yea they are junk just a quick buy.

The ph is showing 4 after the filter :flushed:.

I’m probably looking at a pen at this point. But then I have to keep my pen in solution when not in use?

So this water filter is definitely drooping my ph from 6.8 ish to 4 I just emptied it out and re-filtered some freshwater to double check

I’m gonna run down to the grocery store and get a few gallons of distilled water

I wanted to confirm it removes chlorine from the water and it does.

If that’s a true reading that isn’t good but I think the pen is off that sounds to low .

Ec pen doesn’t matter… Ph pen needs to stay wet… Alot of pens have a sponge in the cap that you keep wet…

Also there is no ions in Filter water it can damage the probe if left in 0 ppm to long…

After you add cal/mag to your filtered water your still at Ph of 4? it should come up… You need calibration solution of Ph 4 and 7 to confirm readings… If readings are correct you need some Ph up

Yes I did not ph it before so I’m not sure if it came up or not. I’m thinking I will order the blue labs pen I think I saw it on Amazon with solution. I imagine that will take a couple days to get here what should I do in the meantime to stop progression.

At this moment if you do anything it’s just best guessing. I would just wait until you get your new pen.

Question why not just buy one at your local Hydro store? I’m guessing there has to be one not to far from you?

Maybe buy a combo pen I’m thinking it will be cheaper than buy 2

What’s a good combo pen I’m kinda hesitant I don’t wanna end up with more junk :weary: Was thinking of grabbing one of the blue labs pH pens

So got a new filter for the zero water filter and now the ph is 6 instead of 4 . So it is definitely lowering the ph some and this pen is wacky to I ordered the blue labs pens ec and ph and drain away pans and some ph up and down and test drops for reference

Pen should be here tomorrow we will see. And I actually found some calibration powder that I’m mixing up now it looks like a pHs are way off on this pen going to try to get it calibrated

Ok so @Mpower11 found some calibration powder mixed it up calibrated pen it was way off but The old water filter appears to still be putting out water with a pH of 5.4

New filter 6.5

And tap is 7.8

So if this pen is correct after being calibrated that means they’ve been getting fed water with a pH of about 5.5 or so which really would make sense to low of ph to feed?

Sorry for posting so much! Just enthusiastic and concerned but Before the girls go to bed couple reference pictures for tomorrow to see if they get worse or stay the same

Not much difference over night. Let see what they look like after a day under the light. Hopefully no more progression, Will update later ph meter should be here late today. Do you have to calibrate ph pens before first use?

Drain away trays on the way to @Mpower11. So it seems like the ph of water swings with temperature as well?
