Super lemon haze, ilgm

Started a new seed in the start and she’s very leggy. No signs of damping off but I remember @SilverGrobo doing surgery on a seedling a while back and wondered if you’d recommend that for this tall girl?

My seeds are all over a year old which seemed to disturb Stephen. Will they have lower thc? Or was his concern regarding germination? I bought 30 from ILGM in 9/20 and still have 25 or 26 what with growing one at a time.

My only successful grow, just finished, was from a clone and I think it’s thc is on the lower side. I do always opt for the highest levels I can find at dispensaries, but I bake my brother goodies every week and he’s going through them so fast and commenting on the decreased potency. It’s not really smokable yet so I’ve only given it a couple taste tests :persevere: but for sure didn’t notice any effects from those couple of hits. I did bake myself something with trim infusion and it was highly effective and sedative. Possibly because buds aren’t finished curing?

Anywho, that’s OT but any input is appreciated.

Here’s my leggy girl!

how high are the lights?

I believe it’s a foot. I germinated in a paper towel before planting in peat pod.

Take out the extension, that’s why she’s stretching. If it were me, I’d even do some surgery on the pod to get her to proper height.

There’s no extension, but lemme scrub up and get into the operating room cuz I just don’t like that long stem.

I feel like when I germ in a paper towel, it doesn’t matter where I put the seed and try to poke down the root, it always seems to grow more before getting any footing in the pod.

  • Okay wait a second, how difficult is this operation? Peat pods are more compact than the coco pods and I wasn’t expecting a root already!

This is your extension. And I guarantee it’s why she’s so stretchy.

i average 2-3 days for life to emerge after dropping a seed in my start…i don’t germinate before…i do place the seed in a shot glass of distilled before and let the seed sink to the bottom prior to adding to start…

the extra height of the light can contribute to the stretching…see below for light height…let the plant grow come close to the top prior to adding the extension

make sure to poke several holes in the dry peat pod before adding seed…i use a toothpick to loosen up paths for future roots

I do the hole poking but  I didn’t know you could use the start with the lights that low! :open_mouth:

It’d be right on top of the plants now if I moved it don’t ya think? I woke up to having to remove two of my humidity domes cuz plants were hitting them

keep the light height down low, as long as possible, to HELP create tight node spacing and avoid the unwanted seedling stretch

Okay I bit the bullet and performed a successful surgery!:raised_hands:

Now, is there an easy way to remove the extension? It’s not coming off easily!

Easy way found- have my son do it :joy:
