If your leaves start to turn yellow in my eyes that is a good thing it means there is no or not much food left in the soil and the plant is feeding off it self… If your plant is green and healthy at harvest time to me it means you have to much Nutes in the plant still
omg 100% way less work… And better product (In my eyes) plus no need worry about flushing the plant before harvest because you used no Salt based nutes in your soil… Added bonus
I’m thinking over the next month I will start gathering supplies. Any suggestions for soil I don’t even know where to start. And I think I’m going to switch out my drain aways for them pots from the bucket company. My drain aways are a little to small for the 5 gallon pots and I can’t fit 4 of the bigger ones in a 3 by 3
And they look
Like they have potential to be set up for auto watering
Sound right up my alley plus it’s organic! These plants are wearing me out So ready for the finish line
Show me the way @Mpower11
I hear you… I looked at this product it looks really nice… Only thing that turned me off a bit is the height but not the end of the world…
As far as soil can you get Gaia Green products? Biggest reason I say that is because I’m familiar with there products and it makes thing easier for me to guide you… Let’s start with this question and go from there…
Things to know…
5 gallon is the smallest size I would go with…
You can’t bet auto watering system I love mine… Just a FYi you want a watering system that waters the top of the soil… Not a drip system for organic growing. Reason is when you top dress the food you want watered in… (The top dress)
I think there system does water over the top
It dosent look like there is anywhere close
Locally bout a hour a way is the closest place listed on there site. I will go there if I got to I’m out that way occasionally. But I think I should be able to order everything online as well. Unless you know something I don’t
Looking at them now I don’t think I can fit 4 from the bucket company in the 3by 3 either there like 22 inches wide each… the 7 gallon fabric pots are the same as the 5 gallon just taller?
I’d like to learn how to do it organically as well my next grow round! It looks like i can get everything off of Amazon. Looking to cut out using synthetic nutrients not trying to deal with flush also. I have auto seeds will that be a deal breaker?
That would be your call on what you want to do… There is other products on the market that will work. Only reason I prefer Gaia is because I use it all the time and I know how it reacts… Changing bands we would have to just watch more closely… (NPK ratio are different)
There is
KBS Natures Pride
Down to earth
I’m sure there is more out there
I would think they are a bit wider but not much… I think it would just depend on the pot
Amazon pricing in the USA is so much $$$ I would think a local hydro store would have better pricing…
Example 2kg of Gaia all Purpose should only cost about $25 max… I get a good deal but I pay like $50 (us funds) for 20kg of all Purpuse
Auto’s isn’t a deal breaker at all but my skill set is with photo plants… That being said I’m starting 4 auto’s outside end of this month… So there will be a small learning cure for me on auto’s
I think I will stick with what you use at least on the first time around at least make everything easier. I got a store bout a hour out that says that carry it I just have to call and check pricing to see if it’s worth the ride vs ordering
It maybe worth the ride because since you have nothing on hand you need a few products…
You need
- Worm Castings
- All purpose
- Bloom
- Living Soil
- Boogie Brix my choice or Molasses (not a Gaia product)
- Fishshit optional but highly recommended
- Nematodes optional but highly recommended
What is your water source?
I can explain why on above products if you want to know
Tea’s I think your better off to pass on first grow… Unless you want to make tea
How much of each product depends on how many plants and size of pots
I’m using RO water now. Thinking I would like to start with 4 5 gallon pots fill this tent up again.thanks @Mpower11
If you using Ro which is good because it will remove all the product that will damage the soil but your going to need to replace the minerals (Cal/mag)
I use this one but make sure it’s the organic version 1 L bottle
Depending on how long the veg is you should be ok with
- Worm Castings = 10 kg Bag
- All purpose = 2kg pale
- Bloom = 2kg pale
- Living Soil 30 L bag = 2 bags 60 L you need about 75 I would top of 15L of wormcast
These not sure if your planning on using
- Boogie Brix my choice or Molasses (not a Gaia product)
- Fishshit optional but highly recommended
- Nematodes optional but highly recommended
Note: I don’t buy pales anymore because the cost is why less when you buy 10 KG or 20 Kg bags
@Bobface86 Have you every watched Mr. Canucks Grow?
It will give you a good understanding organic growing
I can provide links if needed
Watching some of them now. Thanks @Mpower11
Any idea how
Much I’m looking at intially for the conversion investment to organic $$$ wise. Just want to be prepared. I haven’t even had time to try to price it out. Work has been crazy. Hoping this organic try will free up some time for
Me in the next few months
Lot’s of great info there I don’t follow his method 100% but very close and it give you a good general idea what you would have to do
It’s going to be hard for me to give you costs because from what I heard Gaia is alot more $$$ in the Us. Unless you buy at a local store then I think pricing should be better but I will give you a general idea
Based on the sizing above
- Worm Castings $30
- All purpose $25
- Bloom $25
- Living Soil $25 per bag
- Boogie Brix my choice or Molasses (not a Gaia product) $15
- Fishshit optional but highly recommended $50
- Nematodes optional but highly recommended $30
Note on the soil as long as you don’t have bugs you can amend and reuse… You could still use if you have bugs but chances are you will have bugs in your new grow… This is why I recommend Nematodes if will address most common bug problems
